Fewer Homes on Martinsville Real Estate Market in January, 2012

An especially positive development was that there was just 222 homes for sale in Martinsville, or 6.3 percent fewer, compared to the previous month’s total of 237. Compared to January of 2011, however, this actually represents a 1.4-percent increase. By contrast, real estate for sale in Indianapolis fell 2.4 percent versus the previous month and 17 percent versus 1 year ago. Finally, the average number of homes listed for sale in Martinsville Indiana rose 2.2 percent compared to this same period last year.

Indianapolis Real Estate Market Improves in January, 2012


There were 5,528 Indianapolis houses for sale in January, 2.4 percent fewer, compared to the previous month’s total of 5,662. More importantly, this represents a 17-percent decrease versus January’s total of 6,660. This is a very positive direction for a market that suffers from an excess of inventory. Finally, the Indianapolis real estate market saw a 15.7-percent reduction in the average number of listings per month from November of 2011 through January of this year compared to this same quarter 1 year ago in Indianapolis Indiana, or 5,790 versus 6,868 respectively.

Mild Improvement Seen in Greenwood Real Estate Market in January, 2012


In January there were 531 homes for sale in Greenwood, or 0.7 percent more compared to the previous month. More importantly, this represents a 15.4-percent decrease versus January of 2011. By way of comparison, there was a 2.4-percent drop in the availability of real estate and homes for sale in Indianapolis in January compared to the previous month, and a 17-percent drop versus January of 2011. Finally, from November of 2011 through January of this year the market in Greenwood Indiana saw a 14.6-percent decrease in the average number of homes listed for sale on a per-month basis compared to this same quarter 1 year ago.

Major Improvement Seen in Greenfield Real Estate Market in January, 2012


There were 260 Greenfield homes for sale in January, or 7.1 percent fewer, compared to the previous month’s total of 280. In a market that already has too many listings this is good news indeed. In comparison, there were 2.4 percent fewer Indianapolis homes for sale during this same period. Compared to the 326 homes for sale in Greenfield last January the most recent figure of 260 represents a very healthy 20.2-percent decrease. Finally, the market in Greenfield Indiana averaged 278 listings per month from November through January of this year, or 13.4 percent fewer, compared to this same period 1 year ago.

Danville Sees Huge 85.7-Percent Increase in Pending Sales in January, 2012


While there was no change in the total number of homes for sale in Danville, there was a 9.7-percent increase in Danville listings compared to 1 year ago. January’s total of 113 listings, however, is still a long ways away from the 15-month high of 158 that occurred in May, 2011. In way of comparison, the Indianapolis real estate market underwent a 2.4-percent decrease in total listings in January, 2012 compared to the previous month, and a 17-percent decrease versus January of 2011. The market in Danville Indiana, because it is much smaller, is more prone to large changes from one month to the next.

Brownsburg Real Estate Market Improves in January, 2012

One stat that improved nicely, at least from the standpoint of where the current market is compared to last year’s, was that of total listings. There were 241 homes for sale in Brownsburg in January. While this is 0.4 percent more compared to the previous month, it is 11.4 percent less versus January of last year. By way of comparison, there were 2.4 percent fewer homes for sale in Indianapolis, IN in January compared to the previous month, and 17 percent fewer versus January of 2010. Finally, there were on average 246 listings in Brownsburg Indiana from November through January of this year, or 10.2 percent fewer, compared to an average of 274 during this same period 1 year ago.

Avon Market Falls in January, 2012


There were 296 homes for sale in Avon in January, up 1.4 percent versus the previous month’s total of 292. In comparison, there were 2.4 percent fewer homes for sale in Indianapolis during this same period. Compared to last January’s total of 334 listings in Avon Indiana the inventory was down 11.4 percent, which is actually quite a positive development.

Noblesville Home Sales Rise 45.5 Percent in December, 2011

Compared to last December’s total of 633 listings this is a 13.4-percent decrease in total listings—a change Noblesville Indiana home sellers no doubt welcome with open arms.

Fewer Homes for Sale on Indianapolis Market in December, 2011

There were 5,662 Indianapolis homes for sale, or 8.4 percent fewer, compared to the previous month’s total of 6,181. Anyone trying to sell a home in Indianapolis Indiana knows this is something the market has sorely needed for a while. But compared to last December’s tally of 6,805 listings this is a far greater 16.8-percent drop in the available inventory. Also, from October through December of this year there were 14.5 percent fewer listings on the Indianapolis real estate market compared to this same period last year.
